What's the bumper made of?

Number one: What is our bumbers made out of?? I have a friend who was trying to tell me that it was made out of some hardened rubber. I always assumed that is was urethane.

Number two: Does fiber glass have a problem in winter? I also heard that fiberglass cant stand all the shrinking and expanding fomr the heating up and cooling down so in the winter it just shatters.(I also thought that this was bull**** just for the record)

Thanks guys

well, im not too sure about the first question. but i have a fiberglass hood and fb. its been on since february, and you would figure it goes through a LOT of heat changes due to the engine heat. no cracking or stress cracks or anything. i think it all depends on the paint job though.

#1 its basically like urethane. like hardend rubber/plastics. very strong/durable.

#2 i also have a fiberglass hood and fb. i've had them on for a year now....... 2 summers, and 1 winter. everything is perfect. rain/snow/sun.... fiberglass holds up perfectly. i've never heard of any problems with it. basically the only time people have problems with their kits, is if they are poorly made to begin with. other than that you should be fine.

Its recycled polyethlene reinforced with nylon fibers. Its nowhere near harden rubber.
Fibreglass is not impact resistant, most low volume wing kits are made out of fibreglass for the lack of use of an expensive mold. Fibreglass parts are usually a sign that its not high volume and is made with a skeleton shape form/cage and epoxy soaked fibreglass sheet applied onto the cage to take the shape of the desired part.

It also depends on the quality of the F/G kit. If its thin and poorly molded it would probably shatter alot easier in extream temps.

PFRP is Accolade's new material. PFRP (Polyfiber Reinforced Plastic). It's pretty much fiberglass reinforced with a fine polymer mix which makes it flexible and doesnt crack/break under pressure. Look @ pix here:
