CBRD- BBK info- NEW turbos, etc...
Well,
I wanted to throw out a little tidbit of information...
we have a few developments coming along and I wanted to inform everyone...
our TAK33R turbo (t3 based, but can go in other housings) has made 526whp on our time attack car at 28psi on 93 octane on our mustang dyno... pretty stout power, and the turbo is smaller than a 3582R...
we just recently added a billet compressor version that we are testing and should have results in the next few weeks....
quicker spool, and slightly more power
----------
for the BBK, we are on over our 200th unit.... and have only had 3 failures to date that we know of.... one was overspeed (aka boost leak)... the other was the result of a hotside being installed improperly by the end user (which ironically has come back for a second time with an issue)...so...
3 out of 200+ units isnt bad we dont think!!! The turbo is now in the hands of Mike @ AWD Motorsports who is going to do some drag testing with it, to satisfy all of you looking for times... which isnt really our thing...
we have been replacing alot of turbos for people with reliability problems with some of the other stock frame turbos out there...
on another note... we have been testing a larger variant of the BBK for some time.... it isn't a billet unit at present... but it has been promising... we have been getting alot of requests for something bigger than the current BBK for guys that want to run more of a drag oriented stock frame turbo....
we weren't really interested in the beginning but have done testing just to further our knowledge of the flow ranges, power levels etc..... so we have decided to move forward with a billet version and see where that takes us.
the beauty of it, will be that any existing BBK owner will be able to upgrade at a very reasonable price
more details once the final version is tested.... but one has made 480whp on E85 on a mustang dyno in just its cast compressor form.... so very promising...
-------------------
as for EVO X stuff.... we have been testing some turbos.... and are working on a larger Stock housing turbo than what's currently available... larger than the gt3076R from garrett... but still flowing more while spooling quickly....
details on that will be out shortly....
----------------------------------
and we will be working on some other things over the fall/winter for the evo X also......
so just wanted to update everyone!!!
hope all is well.
cheers, from your friends at CBRD!

but we can make something bigger...
and with that comes sacrifices like lag etc... but people have been asking us for it... we were are trying to do is minimize the lag, with maximum performance

So u finally broke down & told the people what they wanted to here. Mike will produce a good et with the bbk.
Eager to see some BBK-XL data as it comes. You have my car, let me know if u need to "use it"

Very interested in the larger style BBK, and what you guys come up with!!! It will be helpful if you can do back to back dyno pulls on the same car with the current and larger version of the BBK when it is available, overlapping the graphs just for reference... want to see increased spool time/power... also, going with a 2.3L motor someday it would be really nice to have the larger option available! (Current BBK owner and loving it BTW!) ...any ETA on this newer version?
FFS Chad, I asked you guys about this like 6 months ago and now its becoming a reality. I honestly thought that this turbo was what I wanted all along, but then....
That pretty much says it all right there. I am SO HAPPY with my car with the BBK on it it is just insane. 388whp on pump gas and 432whp with alky at only 30psi. I am at the limit of what is widely considered safe on the stock bottom-end and the car/turbo has more in it. I have no plans to build the bottom-end, so I now have what is probably the most ideal turbo for me: great down-low torque and just enough top-end power to make 3 friends giggle and cry like little kids, whoop up on supercharged V8's and bigger bikes, the first-hand knowledge that it is a 100% genuine OEM center-section and honestly an unreal level of customer service just a phone call away.
Well, share results as they come, doing a back-to-back with a BBK car is ideal obviously but make this thing blow the doors off of a red and compete or beat FP's new bolt-on hta82 turbo if you can!
Exciting news on all fronts, thanks for sharing like you always do. I think its this sharing of info (actual info) that really sets CBRD apart. That, and the clean-**** shop floor

Please keep us updated if you can come up with a stock framed turbo that can be nice and stealthy, yet flow more than a GT3076R... I've been thinking long and hard about replace my ETS GT3076R kit with something more stealthy to match up with my new 2.3 and hopefully, this may be it.
