If you have the extra money, get SS.

If you race, get SS.

If you're serious about your driving (even if it's just street driving), get SS.

If you just want to upgrade your suspension and don't have a lot of $, get Basic.

^ Bingo. If you want the ability to tune your suspension properly, you'll want the SS kit. If you just want a lowered car with stiffer springs and don't care about precision handling, the Basic is just fine.

So if you get the basic setup will you have to tune them at all? I know people are saying you have to tune the SS ones to put them where you want em. Do you gotta do that with the basic ones too or is that not even available with the basic pacakage?

only thing you can tune on them is the height, the damping force is what you can tune on the SS's, but after reading every post in this thread (yeah, I did it ) I'm just going to go with the Basic's

Bacis have no dampening adjustment. They are hieght adjustable. SS have 16 settings for dampening.

hard part is going to be finding the best deal. www.prostreetonline.com has them at $801, but I found a thread from sept where they were offered at a lower price, wonder if they'd honor it still.... hrm....

or you can always just wait until somebody sells a set in the for sale section. I managed to get a set of SS coilovers with 2000miles on them for $800.

I HAD TO BRING THIS UP FROM THE DEAD! I need this info asap because I'm ordering a set of TEIN BASICS. The info in this thread is for the most part straight forward, but the "OZ UPPER STRUT BEARING" that petey pab said we need is a little confusing.
I went on mitsubishparts.com, and what they have listed is this:

is this the one i need?

no, that's a wheel bearing. you need to go to Front suspension/Suspension components/strut bumper<------ I think that's what you need. I believe the OZ is the "Sport Line" for your strut mount but I could be very wrong on that.

PM me later on today to remind me to look and I'll see if I can't find the suspension component names in the service manual.

Hey i just got my tein basics installed today. These people saying that it's only for show or "...if you don't care about handling get basics..." aren't giving as much credit as they should. The handling is A LOT not just a little, A LOT better then rolling in your stock struts, shocks, etc.

Just to test out the handling i told 4 of my friends to get in the back and 1 heavier friend to get in the shotgun seat. They were all amazed how my car wasn't swaying when i took sharp almost 90 degree turns. These guys aren't noobs with cars either, they all own "finely tuned for D-1" vehicles.

I'm slammed about 2-2.5 inches all around. I got my basics for $850.00 which included installation. I'll try to post pics of my car asap if you would like. Oh btw I have no sign of cambering, again all my friends were amazed. I give TEIN basics a big

POSITIVES:
-Lower more aggressive stance
-No signs of cambering
-MUCH better handling over stock
-Adjustable ride height
-The shocks are simply amazing
-No fender rubbing even at a 2in drop

NEGATIVES:
-A little bit bumpy, barely can tell
