You should never have to pay for a sponsorship. Remember, you're selling yourself and you're selling your car. They don't need you nearly as much as you need them, so sell yourself hard. Start contacting companies you're interested in. If you just want discounts and the sponsorship thing doesn't work you can always try organizing group buys and/or a car club to negotiate discounts with many companies. You'll have to sell yourself, your car, and your club there.
