excellent

I will even give you a few tips. RM-Evo 7 himself will come too and he might bring his famous racing buddy as well! Both will race the Recaro Evo 7 next year.

But I hope I am good enough to give you some pointers still.

Both dates are fine by me, also Monza, keep me in the loop for that one.
Claudius, as long as the gixers and the R1's are NOT locals you will pass them.

Claudius, I'm looking forward to see you learn the Ring in 2 days
So, are these dates agreed then? Obviously if someone has any better suggestions we can change them, otherwise I'll sort out a holiday or two. Maybe we should also reserve the hotel as I think they can be quite booked out. Ahh, and also, does anyone know where to check whether the Ring is free those weekends?

Michael

usually on the Nuerburgring website you can find the all the dates. I've just checked it and currently the dates for next haven't been published yet. So wait a bit with booking as sometimes a car manufacturer rents the track and then no driving!

Jan

I'll keep you uptodate for Monza. The locals are EVO mad!!!

Claudius

Just one word of caution about the Ring. On the Ring it's better to drive at 95% than at 105% as the Ring can bite and this always causes some serious damage/injuries. It's not a modern race track so the armco and then trees are very close especially when driving at more than 200km/h! All the racers from Nikki Lauda to Walter Röhrl treat the Ring with big respect. I don't think Lauda's face is fashion in Monte Carlo

See ya

Mike

Just a few "quick" questions, who's actually doing all the arranging ring side, MichaelK?

can we get an idea of cost?

Will us (read that as me) track day newbie’s be ok? Not sure how it works on the ring but usually you get split into skill level before being let loose on the track, as Claudius will testify I'm slow as hell

Blade has suggested looking at www.wheeltorque.uk.com who are running a ring event on the 31st March and 1st April, see below for more info.

Nurburgring 2002 Festival

The Nurburgring 2002 Festival will take place over Easter weekend Sun Mar 31-Mon Apr 1. Track time will be £575 for the two days and there are 120 rooms available at the Dorint. Prices for accommodation and travel will be announced shortly after the New Year. If your planning on organising you own accommodation then the guys at Wheeltorque recommend that you do so soon because the whole area is likely to get very booked up.

Although it is a Bank Holiday weekend there shouldn’t be too much trouble with ferries since most Wheeltorquers will be travelling out on the Saturday and returning on Tuesday ie one day after peak travel each way.

The current list from both Lancerforums and the MLR is :-
Me!
Claudius
MichealK
Maxi (although he doesn't know it yet)
N.Ring
AdvEvo
CliveW
scoobymike
janv - lancerforums
Blade

Herr Moderator is right!

You pay DM 22,00 per lap. Or ca. DM 1030,00 a year for unlimited laps (that is what I do).

That price takes the absolute píss and is a MAJOR rip-off. A Ring card for a year with unlimited laps costs about 1200 DM (400 pounds) and accomodation for two nights at a nice little hotel can't be more than 200 DM (70 quid). The plan is to go on an open weekend, meaning that you can go on the circuit whenever you wan't unless there's a bad crash or bad weather. A lap costs 22DM if remember correctly or 5 laps for 100DM. Taking into account that a lap at the beginning will take at least 12-15 minutes 10 laps in a day is a reasonable amount of driving. I can gladly organize the rooms at this place if Gerrit can gave me their number, but before the Nürburgring event schedule for 2001 has come out there's no point to do it. But when it is, it'll get done. Wonder how much it costs to rent the Ring for a day.....
