I think it actually says somewhere on the Rim that they are made by Enkei America.
So, I guess you could say they are knock-offs, after a fashion.
They look exactly like the OZ Cronos, which are available in larger sizes.
The reason that the OZs on the OZ edition are Enkeis probably has to do with the fact that OZs are normally manufactured in Italy, which makes them about twice as expensive as most other rims made in the same fashion. Chances are Mitsubishi requested that the Enkeis be manufactured in the guise of OZ is so that they wouldn't have to pay as much for the importing of a massive amount of wheels, and "pass the savings on to you."
So, yes, they are technically knock-offs, albeit by another quality wheel manufacturer.
Yet another reason why I think that the ES rules... no pretenses. ES stands for Extra Special.

yes they do come in 17".( the ones in the picture ... OZ Chronos) I emailed OZ and they said they fit our OZ lancers. they said they'd give us everything we need to fit properly. I want them baaad. they're the first thing I get when I get some xtra cash. weird thing though I haven't seen any cars anywhere w/ them not even on these forums. I guess I'll be the 1st one then.

It's because OZ is expensive compared to some other "tuning" wheels, like Enkei and Motegi. Whereas a 17" Enkei or Motegi could be about 120 bucks a wheel, the OZ would be about 250 a wheel for wheels made exactly the same way, and in similar styles. The OZ name is pricey.

They have some OZ Chronos. I think they were like 259 a wheel for the 17" size... I could be wrong, but, that's just what I remember.

What I said was that a wheel that is of the same manufacturing type, material type (see alloys), and basic design (1/2/3 piece) will probably be somewhat less if made in America, due to the cost of importing them.

The OZ name is very pricey... unless it's on an OZ lancer... I'd like for someone to compare the weight of the OZ's Enkei/OZ rim compared to the real-deal chronos... wonder if there is a major difference.
