where to begin upgrading lancer es

hey everyone... i had somewhat recently purchases a 2003 lancer es, automatic, 60k miles. i want the car to last quite some time so i am interested in upgrading with as much being performance parts as possible that will last and maybe even give a bit more speed to the car.

i was just curious what everyone thinks would be best to begin with. even just small things like a new cold air intake etc. ill eventually want a magnaflow exhaust system and new suspension system too.

but yeah...what do you feel is the best to begin working on first that will help/make the biggest difference??

any help is much appreciated.

Go to lancer shop.

Good luck but you will have really hard times making that car any faster, it will take you a whole lot of money and mods. Go to AZlancers, there are a couple of guys that have turbos on their lancers, that is a good starting point.

I wish you the best of lucks because you will need nearly half of the money of what you paid for the car to make it fast. I am not trying to be an a$$ here, I am just trying to demostrate that the mods on a Lancer engine make absolutely minimal power and the expenses are just so disproportional.

You should also try searching because there are a lot of helpful threads relating to your topic. In any case, here is a direct link to the specific article because it can be hard to find.

EDIT: see my sig if you are looking for a cold air intake.

yeah i know the problems with trying to make a lancer faster.... usually it amounts to just buying the evo to begin with. im not really worried about getting the fastest car i can from my lancer. i just want to replace most parts with performance ones so the car will last a long time and stay new. now if the parts i happen to change will also give me a small HP boost then that would be cool too.

Start saving you money for a turbo.. I started with cold air noticed nothing but a little more noise, then i got the magna flow CAT back and noticed a little pick up diffrance. But all in all when i got my turbo i would say it has been by far the best thing i could do.

turbo... its the only way, and the cheapest unless your a dumb *** and try nos...which i hope your not. i have an auto es 2003 too and had the same questions as you. so i made some $$ and am starting too, but if i can/will do one thing different its start on a turbo. so do that first, same for a turbo and make so HP and clean out that engine with some boost!

I say start with intake, since you have an auto i think you have to go ram air unless you move battery to trunk (correct me if im wrong). then header + full stainless steel exhaust system. tein coilovers. To help with frame flex if you like to drive fast get some sway/perch bars. mabey upgrade to slotted brakes and better pads. steel braided brake lines. all I can think of right now. happy modding your new lancer.

unless your going on the track a lot! I would steer clear from drilled and slotted either get full ones or slotted only. drilled and slotted tend to crack easier on daily driving. well I have been told so and seen it in my a few of my friends cars.

Have to go with the headers to get all the power you can with the exhaust system.
