changin the headlight bulbs

ok so dont laugh at me...but something just dosent seem right

(yeah and my car never came with a manual either)

i wanted to change the headlight bulbs (9007) and was wondering what to do.

if anyone knows...let me know

like the drivers side is between the battery and the fender...and the plug is on good....im afraid of either ripping the plug or pulling the bulb through the plastic holding it in?!?!?!!?!?!?

on the passengers side theres that metal line (what is that by the way ...ac or power steering is my guess) anyway...theres a cable pluged into it and i cant get my hands around it...same thing....plugs on really good...and also the cable seems really tight ...like no slack...(i wont rip it ...has anyone experienced that yet)...and that plastic....like i feel like it might crack...

oh yeah and i know the plastic turns to come off...but i cant take the bulb out since the cables so short .... not enough slack

is it me....or is there a trick i missed?

I have a 2002 OZ, when I changed my lights they were pretty difficult to get off to so I just used a pair of plyers to grip the hard plastic at the base of the bulb so I could pull it out.

??? it's pretty simple... I can't provide pics but I'll try to explain it...
1. There is a locking ring where the bulb goes into the housing...
2. Turn it to unlock it (lefty loosey)
3. pull it back slightly and turn the piece that holds the bulb.
4. Carefully pull the bulb out of housing.
5. Pull bulb out of bulb socket.
6. Replace bulb while being careful to not touch it with your bare fingers.
7. follow steps 4-1... you in reverse to put it back in there...

unscrew the ring first... then turn the part that holds the bulb

did that....but when i pull the bulb out of the headlight....like half of it stays inside the headlight and i got no more slack to move the bulb out further...it seems like i gotta unplug it first...

if i unplug the socket first....will the plastic ring crack....???

Don't worry about unplugging the bulb first... undo the lock ring, unplug the bulb, then just wiggle the bulb out. I find it easier to have the bulb unplugged first anyhow since there's a higher risk of touching the bulb itself if it's outside of the housing when trying to unplug it. Easy peasy

Good work! Now you know how to do it for any other time you need to do it. That's how the whole DIY thing works
