there was something for the eclipse from the 4g forum that you have to brake some kind of tab or put some electric tape around that tab, something like that. its strange i might go to my friends audio shop who deals with fuses all the time may be he could solve this fuse mystery.

The Galants and Lancers had the daytime running light control in the front ECU, but the new Lancers use a much more isolated technology to control the daytime running lights. It's called a field effect transistor and it is controlled by the ETACS-ECU. Re-coding the ETACS-ECU via a MUT-III is the only known way of changing the voltage signal that is sent to the FET.

Just something I was thinking about on the way home. There is a connector right behind each headlight. When you unplug it, the lights are off (all of them). In theory, if you could isolate the prong that is the DRL, wouldn't it make sense that the ECU would think it's connected when really that prong wouldn't be touching the reciprical prong. I know it sounds like a hack, but like I said, it's just something I was thinking on the way home. I don't have the tools to check voltage or anything like that, but maybe someone else could?

There is a way to install HIDS without switching fogs and headlights. I just got it installed today and while I'm not good with cars, I'll try to take pictures of how my guy did it tommorrow for you guys to have a better understanding. From all I can tell, you have to run a relay wire.

For those who are familiar with the mazda 3, the new lancer is supposed to have the same problem and solution to installing HIDS.

I really don't know much about how it was done but they put a new red wire that connects to the fuse box. The second image shows where the red wire connects to in the fusebox more clearly

This is where the relay thing is and I couldn't get a better picture of it.

The relay wire connects to here

Next pic shows converter on left side of hood.

This is a closeup of the converter to show where the blue wiring connected to.

And the end result

I hope someone can make sense of anything I wrote. I just tried describing what I saw in person. I hope it helps. If not I can try to take better pics again.

I got it from Kiz Motorsports at First Markham Place. Normally costs 200 but the guy sold it to me for $150 because my friend bought something else there. I got it done from a friend of a friend of mines in his garage so I'm not too sure where he normally works.

come on its just like disarming a bomb, just cut the red wire first, then blue and then green, or was it blue then red.

Oh ****!!!!

So I see a red wire spliced into pink (B-22?) in the fuse center, right?

BlackGTS,

The wire you show in the 3rd pic (the "relay" pic) shows a brown wire with a 20A fuse, am I seeing this right? And that brown wire connects to the battery's positive terminal.

So are we to assume that the brown wire connects to the red somewhere? Or are you showing two separate components, neither of which form a complete circuit.

Kinda on hold since our Lancer is in the shop getting body kit done. When it is back we will be all over this issue again.
