i got HIDs in my 08, i can simply tell you that i wired my DRL lights to my fog lights which have 12000K HID ( i know 4000K are best for fogs but i dont like yellow, sorry...) anyways my HID worked like crap before i hooked them up to my fogs because when the e brake was released the DRL's would try to come on and esentually my HID's would flicker (strobe)= illegal so i had to fix this, i sent my car to my dealer and they said OK, we know what to do...well like the new Outlanders, the DRL's are located in the fog lights for HID applications (only some) and the dealer swapped harnesses and fuse wires, this worked out great... probably the hardest part was finding 6 good mounting locations to mount 6 Ballasts... but eventually i got it done so in the end i had DRL foglight HID's 12000K, 8000K Lo beam, 8000K Hi beam HID's, but for the answer to the ? if there ARE HID kits for the 08 lancers then Yes, its called a HID conversion kit, i got mine from Onex HID plug n play lights and u need a 9006 Lo and 9005 HI...hope this helps, it sure will help everyone else go blind! jk

Anyone ever thought of just switching the wiring in the actual switch itself, so the the low beam switch will operate the high beam and vice versa. Then we can just make a harness to convert the connectors themselves. So that that the Hi will have a 9006 connector, and the low will have the 9005.

So when you turn on your lows, the high beam will have a low voltage DRL, but the Low will have HID.

One thing that I think will be bad, is that the Blue light indicating a Hi-beam operation might be constantly on. I guess this is one option?

What if you just leave your headlights on everytime you get in the car they turn off automatically and then you wont be running you're DRLs?
Would this work. I am gonna go buy a kit soon and see how it works out.

HID WOrking

I was in the garage this morning working on the set-up that was posted with pics the other day and it does work. The pink wire is used as a signal to fire up the relay and turn the lights on. It does not really bypass the DRL. YOU still need to unplug the factory connector and zip tie it out of the way. What the set-up does is when you turn the car on it has the lights on all the time, which is what a lot of people do. One you turn the key off the lights go off, so no worry about draining the battery. It is a good way to go, so you don't have to switch to the fogs. It also makes it very easy to just plug the factory lights back in for inspection, since nothing is cut. I will get some pics of the set up I did when I get all the wires run. The job is quick and easy and can be done with the relay harness that comes with almost all HID kits.

I'm just wondering if its a reasonable idea to reroute the DRL's to the sidemarker lights, you know the little orange ones. And then just run your HID's normally on the lowbeams?

HIDs on fogs shouldnt be too complicated. I would go with 3000K for those, if you want maximum visibility with them.

Should work fine. The fogs don't have a DRL mode, so I can't see a problem.

Now, the crappy throw pattern of the light could be an issue, so you'll have to let us know if the HID helps. From what I can tell, the foglights only show me things I'm GOING to hit, because they're 2 feet in front of the bumper when they show up.

any updates on a How-To install HIDs? I can see from BlackGTS' post that the setup ran in his car should work without issues. I just cant go off of pictures very well.
