Climate control lighting.

Well I dont know how I managed to do this but this happens whenever I start my car. If i hit the console in the "sweet spot" then it comes on until I turn the lights off and then it goes off again. I'm thinking its obviously some wiring but where would be a good place to start looking for problems?

There are a few bulbs back there, as well as plastic light guides for dispersing the light across the hvac controls, so it could be those. Also perhaps your harness on the backside of the hvac are loose, which would supply power to the lights.

The bulbs could be loose and making a poor connection.

you could need a new engine too. that's at times a tell tale indication. haha. j/k yea i've seen loose bulbs, but most often when putting in a aftermarket cd player the hvac harness get's caught loosening it.

OK so...I went and checked it out and it turned out to be the bulb because i switched them and sure enough it was that one bulb. Now my question is, when i go buy the bulb do I need the whole assembly(bulb AND the gray housing) or does the bulb somehow magically come out of there? I included a pic to show you what I'm talking about.

the bulb should come out. not to pose a stupid question, but have you tried pulling on it?? two things will happen a) you'll succeed and most LED bulbs have no housing or b) you break it and you'll need to buy a whole new unit anyways hence not being at a loss.

He's got it out (hence the pictures), but he's talking about removing the bulb from the plastic mount. It will pull out. You can purchase those bulbs online in bulb or LED form. Also, that blue condom can come off, so you can place it on a new bulb if necessary.

Check ebay for those types of bulbs but I can't recall the size you need They are generally cheap and you may just wanna order a number of different sizes so you don't have to waste shipping in trying many. A search on here might turn up the size you need though.
