There is someone selling something on ebay for 2008 lancers and it says "easy HP'' and its like $4. I am not considering buying this but have always been curious what exactly these things are. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

a complete rip off.

prolly just a led attached to a box, and you wire it into a 12v source. it blinks, and that adds 5hp...

Just two wires to connect
They sell the same chip for different engines. Even if it does do things - how do I know that it does not harm the engine.

 

Typically they are a resistor chip that tricks the computer into leaning out the air to fuel ratio. Don't waste your time on ebay, you can buy them at radio shack most of the time. But, don't even waste your time with those. I doubt it could hurt your car but I'm positive it won't help it. Especially because the 08's have an ECU that's apparently awfully complex, just ask RRM about how annoying it is to play with

 

Its probably just a $0.02 resistor.

Complete rip off and it dosent do anything at all.

On the 4G94, it caused a CEL/SES. I guess that'd be considered "doing something"...
