i doubt it would fix it, without me actually looking at the electrical schematics I can bet you the once the p/brake switch is grounded or looses its ground, whichever occurs. The signal, either a ground lost or 12V supplied to the ECU, which then the ECU sees that lost ground or 12V and is then programmed to send out the signal to another ECU or to the lights directly.

This can be programmed out, but in Canada, not sure for the US now. But in Canada its illegal to have no DRL's. And I am sure mitsu wouldn't want to be part of it. Yes maybe if you had a friend, it might happen, but not directly.

Sorry for the crash course in Vehicle Electronic Control Units. VECU. We have then in our volvo semi trucks. They relay everything between the LCM(light control module) to the EECU. Engine Electronic Control Unit.

Now you know somewhat how a computer works in a car

there has been many threads of this before... its all about the people who want HID lights, which DRL's will ruin them as its running a varying voltage from 9-10 volts. Which will burn out the fancy HID's

I have heard people wiring thier DRL wire? Dunno if there is one? I figure you have to wire a signal wire(your head light wire) to a relay then that relay fused and powered to you HID ballast, or whatever they use (i am a HID newb)

Anyways, there is no DRL fuse, relay ect. Its all in the ECU programming. At least in canada. If you want those fnacy light, then you have to get out with wire strippers and shrink tube!

Please shrink tube and seal all connections properly people! This helps for a big electronic mess later down the road.

DO IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME! Good luck all you HID"ers

i just live in an area where DRL's are a pain sometimes. i always feel bad shining my lights into neighbors windows at night while parking my car, so it would be nice to be able to turn all my lights off. i saw a fuse in the cabin fuse box that looked like it may be for the DRL's, i'll take it out later and see what it's for, if it works i'll let you all know

I'll put money on it not disabling your DRLs...

We've been down this road before tons of times. Currently there seem to be only 3 options to disable them and 2 out of the 3 is for people that are installing HIDs.

its all tied into the ecu, mitsu should be able to disable it considering what else they can program in our cars, but its getting them to is the problem. if you need a schematic I will e-mail it, pm me.

I noticed in the fuse box that there is a DRL relay that is empty.. Is there a possibility they put this plug in for the evo that has HIDs and if we put a relay there would it make it so the HIDs could be used as DRLs too. Im going to put a relay in there tonite and see if that works and stops the strobing.

its probably not hooked up to anything. Also this car is sold around the world, could be used in south Africa or Australia.

search some how to disable DRLs

I know there is a few out there. I am really to lazy to think about it right now, but with a properly wired relay you should be able to bypass it....beer time no more wiring today...already doing electronic engine wiring diagnostic for 4 hours today :P
