You're really going for that "rice" look aren't you?

Skip the neons, save up for some real, non-AutoZone parts.

yeah still trying to wire up lights, no matter what brand are going to take some electrical skill/knowledge. This lancer is as advanced as the rest of them

use the door trigger as the ground for a relay, take 12v from acc wire and go from there. I'm not sure what the lancers wiring diagram is, but if theres a keyless entry module there might be a dome light supervision wire. You could use that to trigger the relay with a constant gound.

-terminal 85 is your power source (12v + fused from battery)

-terminal 86 is your ground - (dome light supervison - wire, or door trigger)

-terminal 30 is looped from teminal 85

-terminal 87 is the 12v+ going to the lights

Your next step woul be to find a good spot to ground the lights

I think i wrote that up correctly.

Yeah, thats how u wire up a relay, basically. You do need a ground for the relay though, whether that be the door switch or or whatnot.

Your problem is that all the doors send a singal to the ECU for the dome light (just had it programmed to dim after 15 sec. not 30.) The signal might run only off 5 V, not enough to light up neons.

And tapping into one without knowing what you are doing could throw some fault codes, and at worst mess up your ecu. So just know what you are doing and do it right.

you need less than 5v to power the relay, not the lights. I figured that when the dome light turns on, the relay is now closed turning on the neons. and when the dome light goes the relay becomes open shutting the neons off.

True true, I may have read it wrong, but thats what we do for aftermarket lights on volvo trucks so it doesn't pull more amps throwing a code for the LCM.

That will work, so just look for the output wire on the door lights at the etacs-ecu (i believe its right behind or part of the fuse panel inside our cars) Just dont forget to fuse the power side for your light off the relay.
