hiding radar wire

so i recently got a radar detector for my car and i was wondering if anyone had found a clean way of hiding the wire that goes to the cigarette power in front of the shifter. i recently hid the ipod wire going from the rca inputs and thought there might be a similar way to hid the other wire.

nice install but im looking for a more simple way of hiding it. i dont mind the cigarette plug part showing and a lil bit of the wire showing at both ends, and i also want to stay away from splicing and doing anything with the direct electrical system of the car. I found a how-to on taking of the piece by the radio off on the 08 lancers but now im wondering if theres a way to run the wire back to the front by the windshield and down inside somehow. i dont know if this is possible on the 08 model but if anyones does plz let me know

Not sure how long ur power cable is. But one way you could try is to go through the roof. If you have the sun roof its really easy to separate and you could press it down near the window edge to pass the end through. Then take it and head to either the driver or passenger side B-pillar. You can slip it through the edge there and tuck the wire behind the molding. I can't imagine its that hard to take the molding off. Just be careful to not damage the molding. You can then take it all the way down the seat side, go under the seat and pass it up into the the little glove compartment behind the shifter. You have a nice accessory outlet there that you can use. From a guess, i would say the cord needs to be at least 12ft long to make this route.

Good Luck

I just ran my power cable from the lighter, behind the MMCS, and out where the top dash piece meets with the front panel... not the cleanest look, but keeps the cable out of the way!

Ignoring all the wires and junk in this photo for the MMCS hack, you can see my radar wire going from the cigarette lighter (its actually unplugged in that shot), and coming out the top to the detector on the windshield...

If you go for that set up line, I would advise you get a peice of string and run on the outside of where you want to run the cable. then add like a foot or two to the total length so you don't come up short. Remember my 12ft was just a guess from me sitting in my cube visualizing my car

or you could do it this way. all you have to take apart is the rubber seal on the drivers door. you run it behind that a-pillar, down the side, under the steering wheel, and up into the cig plug. luckily my wire was long enough if i stretched it out, so worked fine. no cutting, splicing, screwdrivers, etc.
