Question how to - body kit

Whut it dew guyz, im Da Sn0wMan and am a noob to this forum, and tried to search for installing body kits or problems installing them here and on google and came up with nothing......... Well anyways i bought a fiberglass Ken Style full body kit for my 02 oz rally, (yes on ebay) and i tried to dry fit front bumper, and obviously it wasnt a perfect fit, (with or without the stirafoam from the OEM bumper).... Everytime i get 1 side to line up(dry) the other side would shift, seems kinda like its short on 1 side, but im not an expert .... I cant afford to take it to the body shop to have them do it, as I had unexpected bills that needed to be payed ....... What are the steps I should do to get it to fit on the car??? Has anyone installed this body kit on their lancer?... Is molding my option??? How do I go about doing this.... Im just lost in what to do, and dont want to mess it up... This is something i want to learn, so please dont answer back sayin take it to the body shop.... Ill do that wen i can get the kit on, off and sanded n primered.... Also anyone in the DALLAS AREA thats good with this sorta stuff wanna help me out a bit, Id greatly appreciate it, and can pay you and help, as I said, Id like to learn this stuff.

your not going to like what im going to say but you may have to take it to a shop cause bodykits dont come perfect and at a body shop they have to work with it in order to make it fit just right that being said you need to take off ur crash bar not just the foam

yea the two rollers are just dead weight so take them off and many body kits require you to remove the crash bar so once its off it should go on but im now sure if that will fix ur fitment since usually at a body shop they work with the kit to make if fit perfect

i got like 300 left from my claim, i highly doubt a body shop would do it for that amount. i got quoted 400 jus to paint the kit, thats why i want to get it on myself. So id have to remove the crash bar, wouldnt thatmess my car and possibly me up if i were to get in a front end crash> what about trimming the bar, is that possible? or even takin the front part of the bar off since its 2 pieces, or at least it looks like it is. yall prob like ,, "this noob" lol. preciate your input man, any more help would be greatful

i been searchin on google bout removing the crash bar, they say it isnt saf for the driver or any passengers if i were in a front end crash, also they said they insurance companys wont pay for damages if they find out the crash bar wasn there or modified. what about a smaller crash bar? know of any that'll fit the 02 oz?

modifying a crash bar puts you into just as much danger than removing it, most aftermarket kits require removal of the crash bar. You need to choose to put on the kit and off with the crash bar, or no body kit. If you didn't pay alot of money (4-5k) for your kit, then it won't fit well and take time and cutting and bondo to make it fit, that's just how it is. Post some pics and we can try to help. Is the kit fiberglass? plastic? polyurethane? carbon fiber? this will help us out also

really what the hell? i had to remove the styrafoam but not the crash bar... thats the thing with body kits man. You never know what your going to get, especially off ebay... wish you where closer i would have sold you my **** for 300... and its already fitted since i took it off my car, but i feel your pain i had to redo a whole side with bondo on my new front bumper...

but never had to take off the crash bar... man thats weird.

but yeah buy bondo. but id like to see your fitment issues so i can give more suggestions!
