Short RAM/Full Cold air Intake

Hello All,

This is my first post to the forums. Glad to have found a forum with understanding peoples who can help, and drive great vehicles.

My first question relates to the use of a short ram intake vs. a full air intake.

If i got a short ram, i would not only have the stock intake still but the short ram. Is that even possible?

Secondly, would the short ram be worse than a full Cold Intake?

I drive a 2003 Lancer ES (auto)

well being an auto then your pretty much stuck to an sri. the cai in the lancers for an auto dont fit unless you do some modification. and whatever you get will replace your stock system.

Yea if your Auto you should just get a SRI. It is FAR too much work to make a CAI fit on an auto lancer. Power wise there isn't a huge difference so you might well just get a decent short ram.

Yep. basically what everyone else is saying. Honestly, I wouldn't spend over $60 on a SRI. I got mine for $42 shipped on ebay. You will not notice a difference if you buy a $50 one or a $300 one. Installation is very simple. I installed mine in about 30 minutes without using directions and just a picture.
