Aftermarket wheels + rain = Wet rotors/braking issues
Aftermarket wheels + rain = Wet rotors/braking issues
I have winters on some wheel that are six spoke and obviously have a little more space in between than the stock wheels. (18" on both sets)
Whenever I run my winters on the aftermarket set and it's really raining out. Driving down the freeway. If I don't use the brakes for maybe 5-10 kms, when I go to use them - 1 second delay until the water dries off the rotors, with extremely decreased braking performance for that 1 second.
Luckily I have never had any close calls.
My main point is, has anyone else experienced this.
I am most likely going to change my wheels at one point.

I doubt it is the pads. As soon as I put my stock wheels on the problem goes away. Braking performance when it dry out is great, cold or hot brakes.
Just confirmed it again. Put my stock wheels on last week and it was raining like crazy today. I drove about 3 Kms without my brakes at 100km/hr and no problem braking.
With my other wheels this would have given me a 0.5 - 1 second delay. So just curious if other people have experienced this. I will upload a pic of my aftermarket wheels soon.
