Plasti-Dip 06' Grille

Hello fellow lancer lovers,

This is my first hand at how-to and I hope this gives other ideas in grille modifications. In an effort to find new ways around the 06's chrome grille type, I decided to use the plasti-dip method. This method needs no scratching of the chrome and if you don’t like it you can just peel it off (after drying).

I started off with taping and making sure no over-spray would hit my car paint.

I sprayed about 5 coats of plasti on the grille's chrome, intervals of 30mins/coat.

I then took off the tape following the last coat to keep nice solid edges.

The results are amazingly different and had expected less than what I got. The finish is matte black and a little bit of texture (from close sprays). I’d say that this is pretty good for a first time. As a plus I have had this on the grille for more than 3 months and no chips. Six trips (250+ miles each) and daily driving. Still holding strong and looking good!

*For some reason my pictures are not posting up. Click on the link or visit my garage. THANKS!
