Got a turbo last night
Good news = Got a turbo for only $40 (what you see in the pictures)
Bad News = it's a 4g63 engine turbo from an older Eclipse
I really don't wanna spend over $1000 to install and custom do this - if i can find a place who will do it for under that- i will install it in the car - if i can't find it cheaper than that - i will sell it on ebay. any advice? suggestions? umm, ANYTHING to tell me, cause i want more power in my lancer - i wanna take advantage of this great price. Don't flame me and tell me to search - cause i'm a super newb when it comes to Engines and all that stuff i found was kinda bogus -talk to me - i need sh*t broken down.

you definitely can do something with that. you just gotta keep collecting pieces because you need more stuff.. Like piping, fan ect; ask one of the engine gurus around here what else you'd need. good start in the right direction!
well.. ill just be straight off so that you wont waste your time.. why did you buy the turbo if your budget is only $1000.. everybody knows that havin a turbo will be expensive.. all the other major pieces will defenitely not be below $150 ... but if you wanna save money and still continue this project, you can do it slowly or little by little, just like what they said, collect the pieces one by one if you want.. but then again, maintaining a turbocharged car can be expensive too... peace!
Yah, if you want to go custom, you either need alot of money, or hookup, or basically use your brain to make it. If you have money, you can have it custom or buy one where R&D is already done for you. If you got hookup, it's easier since you don't need labor $$ and maybe you can get cheap parts. Or you can use your brain and around 2grand to get a custom kit done.
Now for the maintenance, you got to keep your turbo/engine in top working order or you'll spend money later in the process which would equal the amount when you buy a plug and play.
ALL IN ALL USE YOUR BRAIN IF YOU WANT TO SAVE MONEY

good deal on the turbo so its a good start. if you can get more buys like that it might not run you too much (of course it'll still be no less than 1 g). But as long as you (or someone helping you) knows what theyre doing, you can get it cheap, and keep it maintained. everyone that I've seen on here that went custom all have usually paid less than a kit.

yeah, i dont have much money - so i doubt i will be doing this. it seems like a year long project- or less, and i'm already actually looking into getting a 2001 audi a4. thats obviously a 1.8t already stock, with a bout 170HP, and if my parents bless w/ me a bigger buget- maybe i'll roll in with a 2001 Audi S4, which pushes 250HP / 6-speed manual/awd. id love that. i might sell this turbo between now and december? any offers? lol.

but then again if the car comes stock with a turbo, it will overall be much cheaper and easier to maintain. if thats what he wants, he can get that.
