Seats + Rims/Tires
Seats + Rims/Tires
I have a couple of questions.
1) I want to get rims. I am pretty set on 17's. I understand that tire size would be 205. Can I get bigger tires? What are the downsides/upsides/effects? Also, is it pretty much not recommended to go for 18's? This car is THE ride for me and is not for jsut show.
2) If I wanted to get leather seats, where would i start looking? WHat is the price range. Should I instead consider the evo seats?
Thanks.

For 17 you could go as wide as 215 on the tires. You could go for 18s but the bigger the rim, usually the greater the weight. 17s are more functional. Most dealerships can get your seats re upholstered in leather for 800-1000. Race buckets would be around 300 a seat. The EVO seats will be very expensive through the dealer so I would look to aftermarket options.
Another thing to keep in mind is that a 205/40 series tire is almost identical to the stock tire's diameter, and going bigger will throw off your speedometer. Whalen Tire has a nice feature that'll tell you the rough difference in speed with different tire sizes when you're selecting tires for your ride.

Actually 205/45/17 is the recomended tire size that is closest in diameter to stock size. America's tire told me 205/40 would throw off speedometer. And besides a 40 Profile is too low, you will feel every little bump so 45 is the way to go and no they do not even come close to rubbing.

bah, i rolled 205/40 on my 16x7 on my jetta
go look at some european cars stretching 195 on a 9" wide wheel just to meet TUV codes.
Eventually, after long enough, tire size becomes a matter of style and availabilty, ***** speedo&bumps
I agree with Datenshi. Id go 205/40 and just lower it a bunch

Are you willing to to get non reclinable leather seats? If you are then I have a set for $100+ shipping...these seats are about 1 year old and have been well taken care of...because of the fact I have never installed them...I was going to put them in my Neon but changed my mind...let me know
