Question Can someone explain...

Im about to get some 17s for my lancer, anyway what the hell do the numbers mean on the tires, like 205-40/45? Can someone tell me what they mean, or give a website that explains it? Thanks in advanced

205 is the width of the tire in mm. 40/45 is the pecentage of the width used to determine the height of the side wall

wow that visual enhancement is leaving me more confused, But ok, so if i get some 17s i should go for 205s/45s? according to that site, if im going 60mph on my speedomter with the new tires/rims im actually going 64mph? thats sort of confusing...

The overall diameter of the tire size is what causes the speedometer to be off. For example, if the speedometer is designed to read 60mph with a stock size tire that has a diameter of 24", a smaller diameter tire, 22.5", will spin faster to cover the same amount of distance thus causing your speedometer to read faster than what you are actually traveling and vise versa if the overall diameter is larger than stock size.
