well today i finished welding up the rear end, its square and in place, braced up and sealed from the outside elements. i also started to put the front end together, meaning i welded the core support back into place and put the inter cooler and intake hoses on, also the headlights and the power steering pump hoses the ac stuff, and also the heater core hoses along with tightening up the acd lines.
everything is going good so far and im on track for my deadline, i had my body guy down with me today to check on the progress, he is happy said it should not take him too long, he recons about a week and a half should get her done. im happy with that. as for the rest of the stuff like the drive shaft, im gettin that made as im typing this should be done in two days.
tommorrow im going to cut the rear doors off the evo 8 and cut the skins down to fit the mirage, ill post some pics tomorrow..

the latest pics of the rear end are on the previous page, you can see the rear end of the Vlll on the mirage, its looking really really good.
thanks again for the comments and the interest in this project, im getting more and more excited every day im down to my final few weeks and this car is going to be amazing.
now i do need help on one or two things, color scheme, and id like everyone here to try and come up with a name for the car. so far i have came up with "UNDONE" and "EVORAGE" im tryin to maybe come up with something that will fit in the licence plate, any an all ideas will be greatly appreciated.
thanks to everyone who has seen this project through with me.
thanks to everyone who has said i should have just fixed the evo you guys are one of the reasons im takin this car to the next level of custom building... to prove that if your dedicated enough and work hard at it, and if you can dream it, it can be done. that when it comes to custom builds why go "BOLT ON" any one can do that, build a real custom car do something that no one has done before, and if you think this is crazy you should see what is coming next, i have a friend in europe who wants me to build him a car when im in germany.
this thing, im not going to tell you exactly what it is, but i will tell you it is an insane project, even for my standards.... I LOVE IT.
any way names for the car please
thanks everyone...

Looks good man, are you going to continue the body line from the evo quarter panels onto the car or just blend it in?
Looks pretty cool though, was also wondering if you were planning on doing a roll cage of some type? Just scary since your cutting apart a uni body vehicle and although your welding panels back on I can imagine the same strength isn't there as original.

If I summed up the total amount of work I've done in my life, I don't think it would be as much as the work you've put into this project.

ahh good question, but the answer right now is no.
as for cutting apart the uni body, the chassi legs have not been cut and by putting the evo rear diff in ther, it has two cross braces, the mirage only had one. so thats stronger, what i will do is put a rear strut brace in and also cross brace behind the rear seat like the evo vlll had. strut brace the front, if needed then i will probably make a roll cage for it, i have the use of a mandrel pipe bender so it would not be hard to make up, if needed.
now as for the rest of the quarter panels i m cutting the door skins off the vlll and welding them to the mirage so it will all match up on body lines, i will have a lottle dificulty with the lines going up to the back right by the back window, that is going to take a little bit of finess and whole lot of trial and error and a genius of a body guy which thank fully i have.. lol
good questios though, hope the answers help.
got any ideas what to call this puppy????

well today i kinda had a slow day, lots of little stuff, like i had to make new brackets for the shifter cables because i could not get the gears properly. i had to make some mods to the air box brackets to mount in place correctly and make sure the hood closes. i did nothing with the rear end at all just looked at it in awe!!!!
i wired in the oil temp sensor and the volt meter and done the plumbing for the boost gauge.
i had to move alot of wires and lengthen them to get them where i want them. this takes alot of time. i had to do other little fiddly bits tightening bits up making brackets and generally makin sure things were good to go. i think i may have another day under the hood routing and placing wires and makin a battery tray, and ill be ready to start her on saturday i hope so fingers crossed and ill let ya know how it goes, oh yeah i cut the exhaust to length and ill get it in tomorrow, the drive shaft should be here on sat or Mon ill get it in on Tuesday ill also get the rear quarter panels done on sat too. ill post some pics over the weekend,
dont forget i need a name for this beast.
i just thought of "ITS-A-BEAST" not sure though..
