cross drilled rotors

okay i had question im in store for new rotors on my 'es' but i was thinking about cross drilled , okay i thought since cross drilled have less metal on them (since theres holes in them ) wouldnt that make them lighter ? so if there lighter there would be less weight on a turning part which would make my car pick up a bit quicker?

The weight difference is marginal considering the size of the rotors on a lancer. Cross drilled are also not recommended for our cars, the small rotor size makes them prone to cracking during hard braking. Just get slotted and call it a day.

I got some cross drilled and slotted rotors that are great cause where they are drilled they are dimpled

get some slotted brembo rotors from tirerack.com they are awesome rotors.

I got Brembo crossdrilled & slotted rotors that never gave me a days problem...just make sure the drilled holes are countersunk.

? No, they're brakes not freakin nitrous. You won't notice an increase in acceleration when the difference is a few ounces, hell do you notice a difference if you drive after taking a dump?

taking a hearty dump would probably be much more effective than new rotors.

...if you're looking for engine gains from rotors you're looking in the wrong place.

Exactly, you might as well try to increase braking by adding new taillights.

DO NOT get cross-drilled or slotted rotors. Cross drilling is old tech for pads that
gas a lot, you don't really need them with todays better designed brake pads. Slotting is to remove the glossed layer of brake pad from repeated heavy braking and very little cool-down. Unless you are racing on a track you don't really need either. Just get a good set of solid rotors. If you must spend lots of $ then get nice 2 pieces rotors that are aluminum in the center so that you save some weight.

i got some slotted rotors because i autox with my lancer--but i had no interest in drilled and a quick search answered any questions i had about why they aren't right for our cars.

however the OEM rotors are a good choice as well--my friend who also autoxs runs the stock rotors and they have been great for him.

just some other stuff to consider for the OP.
