Wheel balancing

I just noticed on my front passenger wheel there are only two added weights on the wheel while on my drivers side there are six. I swear when I got these wheels a while ago there were four on each. Why would the wheel balancing shift like that?

Well depending on the type of weights you have. I mostly see the the clamp on type that hold onto the lip of the rim. Over time they might slip some or fall off completely from rough roads or hitting big bumps etc.

Mine were the stick on type. But the thing is, there were 4 on each side last I checked. Now its 6 and 2. The side with 2 I just noticed has uneven tire wear in the middle. Im sure its a sign of trouble to come. Whats your best guess at whats going on?

Over a years time Ive had all 4 tires replaced just from normal wear but the balding tire IIRC isnt a year old yet. Only maybe 9 months...

An out of balance tire won't cause it to wear any faster unless it's so far out the car is shaking. Sounds like you have a wheel alignment problem. Have you ever had that checked?

Havent had that checked. I've never curbed or hit a devastating pot hole or anything like that. Im a little bit skeptical at letting the guys at Jiffy and similar places poke around my car. The closest Mitsu is at least an hour and twenty away. I'll check the alignment though.

I had thought it was a wheel bearing. I decided to check and this is what I got. It doesn't really sound like a grind though. Check out the video if you cam and let me know your opinions. Wheel grind?

Have you checked your dust sheild to see if it might be bent and rubbing against the rotor?

Yeah, I took off the wheel to inspect the rotor and pads and both look ok. Later ill lift the other side to see how that one spins.

I can hear a sequence of noise which I think is coming from that side when the brakes are applied which at first made me think it was the wheel bearings. So I'm trying to pinpoint this issue.

That slight pad drag is pretty much normal, bet the other side does the same thing.

This is basically all I can hear in the vid. If your hearing something different the mic might not be picking it up very well I mainly heard the normal pad drag.

What does the other side sound like? I think that will give you the answer.

Yeah it sounds just like some pad drag to me as well.
I wouldn't worry about it.

Just keep an eye on your pads and if they start to wear out fast I would be thinking it could be a bad caliper.

But as of right now I wouldn't worry to much about it.
