Differential question...

Oz lancers use similar front drivetrains to the later model mirages, correct?

Does any one know if the differential the same that is used in the mirages, or are they different?

All signs point to the same. You can use a Mirage front LSD if that's why you're asking (Kaaz Sports has them and I believe both RMR and RRM resell them for nearly identical prices). Pretty much the same cars aside from the shells, bores, strokes and throw out bearings.

I was thinking of the Phantom Grip lsd conversion for the mirage.

got a link? There are different kinds of LSD, some of them are more useful than others.

www.phantomgrip.com

They said i could send in my diff. and they would see if the mirage one fits or find one that will. But i cant just find a diff. and send it in.

Phantom Grip makes lsd conversions to convert the stock diff in to an lsd. Sport Compact Magazine used one in a neon, so you know its gotta be some what good. They have quite a good reference, and thier kits have been used in rally and race cars, so i'm sure they can take a beating.

Basically the kit puts a spring in between the spider gears to keep them tight and provide equal grip to each wheel.

P.S. I think they will do a group buy, if it fits.

Yeah, that'll work too by all accounts I've heard.

I'm so torn. LSD isn't allowed in the class I currently race in. If I put LSD in, I'd bump up to STX with WRXs and Mustang GTs. But the funny part is that category is consistantly about 2-3 seconds slower than my current class, small non turbo engines.

I thought that someone said that the phantom grip is allowed in classes where lsd's are not, because it still uses all stock parts?

Maybe that modifications on diffs are not allowed too.

well, a lot of things are done that are not allowed, but also are hard to notice, but to my knowledge LSD is not allowed in stock or STS unless originally equipped (Viscous coupler only). In street prepared, STX, and classes above that, you can get LSD or make one by welding, adding, removing, etc. with the stock parts.
