hey guys, i have a 11' lancer gts and sometimes when i turn off the car and go to start it back up within a couple of minutes nothing happens. this has only happened a couple of time, once after i changed the oil and today after i washed the car. when i go to crank it over litterally nothing happens. but when i turn the ignition to the off position and go to start it again it turns right over. has anyone else had this probelm at all? any input is greatly appreciated. thnx.

 

Do you have the FAST key? No cranking? Any click from a relay? Any display on the Driver Information Display?

Any little bit of info would help. Also this should have been posted to Troubleshooting.

This has happened to me once a long time ago. I assume it was just the fast key not getting recognized or something. Turned the key a second time within seconds and it started no problem. Unless it happens regularly i would just ignore it.

 

Yes the relays click, and yes i hace the fast key system. It was a very weird occurance. And no the is no cranking when this happens until i turn thd ignition to off and then start it.

 

Is this an ongoing issue? Does it happen every time or just intermittent? What does the dash say? Sounds like the fast key is not getting recognized. This can happen if it is in close proximity to a cell phone.

 

I have a 2010 Lancer GTS. This is normal if you have the F.A.S.T. Key. If you leave the switch in ACC as opposed to LOCK, You need to turn it completely to lock, then you can start it. It's in the manual.

There was a service bulletin for a similar issue for earlier lancers. I would assume yours is new enough that it shouldn't have the issue?
