Go to autozone or advance auto parts and ask them to pull the obdII code for you.

Report back here with the code number and description and we can help you further.

Looks like you live in California so you can't go to AutoZone or any other parts store and have them read the codes. You either have to go to a mechanic, buy a code scanner or find someone that has a reader.

What? Are you serious?! They don't pull codes for you in California?

Scantools are getting pretty cheap, picking one up may be your best bet. As far as the shuddering and CEL on and off with the throttle, what makes you think it is transmission related? A flakey MAF or TPS signal may cause similar symptoms. Update us once you pull codes.

That's right. There was some dispute against the auto parts stores and some mechanics organization. Well the organization won so the auto parts stores could not pull the codes for you. Only in California.

So much for living in a free country. "Our union can't make money because Autozone gives the service away for free! Government, please make it illegal! Great... customer, you own me 90 bucks for this code"

Had a collision center quote me $85 to clear a SRS light.... I went to the dealership instead and had it done for free. Nice guys. They were even interested in my turbo project. They said they typically charge but nothing outrageous tho.
