CVT Question

Does the CVT tranny fail after a certain point? Assuming that all service is done, the car is maintained, how long before the CVT goes?

its a mixed bag really. but my guess, it may be related to whether or not you cvt has a cvt cooler. My new 09 lancer didn't come with a cvt cooler and i had to replace my cvt @60k ish and again at 80k. I took it in every 30k per the sever maintenance schedule and drove it for MPGEES most of the time. So it was babied.

A friend of mine has an 08 lancer with the factory cvt cooler and is over 100k by now. Hell, the motor died before the cvt did. 2.0L btw

so yeah the cvt is a bit of a wild card from my experience but if I had to put a number on it I would say 100k is where cvts tend die or or start to die.
