why would we use premium at every fillup? The filter has nothing to do with octane rating.... using premium will only lead to improper combution in the chambers, fouled injectors and plugs and will necessitate a rebuild that much sooner (from all the carbon buildup).

Unless you're trying to tell me Shell puts a little bit of dirt in every gallon of regular

Lightbulb Fuel Filter

I know this is an old thread, but after reading it someone is right. I work for a company that delivers car parts from the Parts Distribution centers on the east coast. I do my own tune ups and get my mitsu parts at Manufacturers cost ( Mitsu ). I was at a dealership and asked him where the fuel filter was cause I wanted to change it. He showed me from there in house software that it is in the gas tank and in order to change it, you have to drop the tank. What a B**CH.

you won't have to drop the tank, there's an access hole in the top of it, under the back seat
