CEL after cold air installation
I've just put in a new cold air intake in and now i have the check engine light on.... would anybody know why? I've searched on the site but couldnt find anything specific on this issue. At first i thought i put the MAF on the wrong way but when i flipped it, The CEL was still on. Any help would be appreciated.
The light may not go off immediately if you did have the MAF backwards. Try resetting the ECU when you're certain the MAF is on correctly. The adaptor plate should be filter-side. That being said, did you reconnect the vacuum hose from the intake to the valve cover?
vacum hose is on good....but now i have to remember which way i put the MAF....i have the plug side facing right and lable up....dont know if thats the adapter to filter side....but i did reset the CPU and it still aint go off....it runs good but i know it will run alil better witht he light off
Aight thats coo........well its running good the way it is now but i will but it on the right way....by any chance...have anyone ever heard of fliping the MAF upside down that it gives more HP/TQ?

To reset your ECU just disconnect your battery for a few minutes. Easiest way to make sure you've drained any latent current is to step on the brakes for a minute once you've disconnected the battery. Put the wires back on the battery terminals, and your ECU is reset. If your problem remains the ECU may go back on immediately or it may go back on after some delay (generally around 40-80mi of driving by all accounts I've read). Good luck.
To determine which way the MAF should be facing, you should have put an adaptor plate on when you installed the MAF...THAT is what I was telling you should be facing forward.

If nothing else that should get the CEL off for a bit. There is of course the possibility that it's not related to the intake install. In fact, if it comes back on after you reset the ECU I'd recommend going to Auto Zone or something and having them pull the CEL code to narrow things down.
Pop your hood, Open the fuse box, Pull out the big fuse, wait 30 seconds and put it back in. Reset your stereo settings and enjoy your car with no CEL?
If that doesnt work then you screwed up somewhere do as hobie says and double check the direction of the MAF. If I remember right it has a directional arrow but I could be wrong.
