If I Get Zapped One More Time . . . !!!
i'd like to hear more about this static pad...i'm getting shocked like crazy!
It kinda wakes me up for my 8am classes though
. Without it i'd probably fall asleep walking from the parking lot to the classroom

In order to help with static discharge, you can go to your dealer and order part number MZ607231EX (alternatively, look for it online); it is a "Static Pad" for the Lancer, but should work on ANY car pretty much.
Hope this helps.

First off, lets get the REAL issue straight. The reason that we are all getting shocked is because the car is electrically isolated from the earth. When your feet hit the ground and then you touch the door to close it, you are becoming the path to ground to bring the vehicle and the earth to the same electrical potential (voltage). This has nothing to do with seats or static electricity. The reason why you don't feel it when you grab the door BEFORE you put your feet on the ground is because you are not allowing the high voltage potential to ionize the air between you and the door (the "shock" or "arc" you can see and feel). Essentially, the current is still travelling through your body, it is just using your entire hand, not a single point (like the end of your finger or something). So, you just don't feel it.
Sorry if this was too technical, but I wanted to get the issue straight. I usually forget to touch the door BEFORE I set my foot on the ground and, thus, experience the shock. Sometimes it really hurts!

So finally i get to experience the joy that is the lighting bolts inside my car... hahaha So last night i was dropping my girlfriend off at her house and i went to kiss her... then BAM!!!! Right when our lips touched we got the **** shocked out of us hahahaha i was laughing my *** off and she was like....wtf it actually kinda hurt too lol. Talk about an electric kiss!
this kind of thread comes up every winter, silly
i recommend just hitting the door (metal part) with your hand or something, u wont feel the shock as much. i dont mean like hit the door so hard that u feel that rather than the shock, but jus thit it enough to not feel the shock. it works, test it out.
or drive naked.

today for some reason, my g\f and i were going to the local dairy queen and she asked to drive, so i said, "okay" and as we got to the place i did the normal, open the door step out onto the ground, and close the door with my bare hands, and being in the passenger side, i got no shock, well when we left the place, i drove, and as we arrived at home, did the normal getting out of the car once again, and ZAP! i was like WTF man! Where can we get one of those static straps that go on the back of your car and run to the ground? I've looked online searching "auto or car static straps" and found nothing???
