you could just keep your seat moist at all times to defuse the static electricity

cold air makes it more stagnant...then there is more friction--> increase in static electricity-->human body is a great conductor....therefore northerners get shocked more hahaha

like...if you crap ur pants and it seeps through or something?

lol I would drive my cousin and his friend around whenever they're in town and only my cousin and I would get horrible shocks. His friend wouldnt. So we'd get out of the car really carefully and walk to his side passenger side door and wait for him to get out to shock him. Maybe its genetic. We ALL have a certain gene that would conduct electricity better!...dun dun dun.

bat4evo dude is right tho about the car being electrically isolated and what not.

keep your hand on the metal part of the door before you put your foot on the ground and you'll be ok.

I actually have had this happen with my lancer AND when i used to have a 1g DSM. It was so bad in the DSM one night that i actually blackened part of my fingernail from it. The spark arced out like 2 inches. Quick fix is to just close the door usin gthe window and then just hold the metal part of your key and touch the car. You dont feel the spark but you can certainly see it It just has to do with weather. Rarely happens for me during the summer but always during dry cold winter days. I live in NY

Just buy the static touch pad from this site if you don't want to get shocked anymore.

For the record.. today.. in massachusetts.. its 32 outside and pretty windy.. its drier then an old lady... and i got a static shock SO bad after a 45 minuet drive home from work that i got out of the car.. touched the door... screamed a barrage of the most foul things you can think of, some involving a priest and a little boy... and then proceeded to slam the door so hard i tripped the alarm which was in the process of self re-arming... not fun... and ive tried every possible way of getting out of the car to avoid shock... no go.

i think its just a way for japan to pull one over on all of us "crazy american wanna be tuners"

for the record i actually have a mark on my hand from the spark.. that bad...

See the real problem is people just don't have their cars trained properly... All you have to do after you get shocked is punch out the window and yell "BAD LANCER!!". It will never happen again, I promise

okay, found some grounding straps here...so these things are supposed to hook to your body and actually touch the ground? No idea, but they're at Summit Racing
