Engine Problems........
I've been having this oil problem for the last two months. I usually get my oil changes done at a local Midas down the street from my job at the bank. I know them there and they hook me up with discounts all the time. Well, last month I was going around a curb and noticed that the oil light momentarily came on. I went straight to Midas to have it looked at. The engine was completely dry (I had gotten an oil change about a month before). We couldnt find any leaks anywhere. The only think that I noticed is that The Greddy Oil Cap that I purchased from RRM leaks a lot. (But not to that extent). So we did another oil change and was told to keep an eye on the car. Well, last Friday I was chillin with my friends and noticed that the oil light momentarily came on again. I check it again and the same think. DRY. I have only about 32,800 Miles on my ride. Im taking it to the Dealer on Thursday for a complete check up. But Im bumming my friends original oil cap (just in case they that engine damage had anything to do with that). Does anyone possibly know what the problem might be?????????? Please help......
Dude, that is REALLY weird! What I think happend was that the
dealer forgot to put oil back in when they changes you oil & it damaged the rings, crank, cam, all that stuff (this happens way too often) AND NOW you car is burning a lot of oil due to the damaged, sloppy engine.
Have you ever added something like prolong or duralube or anything? That stuff may have helped keep the damage to a minimum. I would be pissed if I were u!

And it kinda does this clicking sound when Im driving it.(sounds like the pistons going up and down or something). Or it could be that the engine is just warming up. The only thing that I have on the car (engine wise) is the Red RRM Valve Cover (which is a Mitsubishi part), the RRM Throttle Body, Injen Cold Air Intake, Denso Iridium Spark Plugs, The Spark Plug Wires, and the Exhaust. Thats it......

Thats very very strange, my friend called me the other day complaining about this clicking sound, he checked the oil and it was dry also. He said that when he took it to the shop, they said he has bad valves or something like that. (he drives a saturn)
Im gonna take it as is but with the original cap. They couldnt possibly blame the problem on the Injen Cold Air Intake, the exhaust, Throttle Body (which they probably wont even notice that its bored out), Spark Plugs/Wires, or the RRM Valve Cover either (its still a stock one, powder coated)
the ticking sound meant for me in the past a blown head gasket(neon)....god i hope that mess doesnt start w/ my mitsu now...it was a known problem w/ 95-99 sohc/dohc neons that dodge refused to recall...good luck...(my neon had 45k on it)

i'm a tech for mitsu and i would have them do a oil cunsumption test on it. but i know first hand that mitsus start burning oil when you use aftermarket oil filters (they are not valved to keep up oil pressure on a cold start) also if your cap is not sealing properly you loose crank case pressure. hope this helps and take the intake off but leave everything else when you go into the dealer.
by the way when you start getting a ticking sound its your lifters becuase there not pumped up with oil. and neons (dohc/420a mitsu eclipses are well known for head gaskets leaking)

Do you think that They'll say anything if I bring it with the Air Intake. Im too lazy to take it off. They didnt say anything about it before (like when I took it there for an oil change and brake jobs). They also didnt say anything about my test pipe. What do you think Mitsupwr.
i would definetly take it off, because if they have to call out the DSM becuase it needs valve stem seals..... oops did i say that out loud, (not on the lancers) they will definetly void your warranty. and take of the test pipe thats for obd2 and controls air to fuel management if you want to get rid of a cat get the header the precat robbs most of the power the other will help with torque after all i had 93 mirage with a 1.nothin and got it to run 13.9's with the help of a 100 shot but thats besides the point.
Ok, Im gonna take the Air Intake and the Test Pipe off. I also put back on the stock Oil Cap. The only thing that I have now is the Throttle Body from RRM which according to Rob is the Stock one but just Bored Out, Spark Plugs/Wires, RRMs Red Sylicone Hoses, and RRM's Vavle Cover which is also a stock item. And my 2.25" Exhaust. Should I be ok now Mitsupwr????
you should be ok now. but just for some info i get a lot of ses lights because of silacone hoses not sealing correctly or not resticting enough usually egr dtc's. just for your info.. good luck if you were coming to my dealer and i saw an evloutionm.net sticker i would'nt of even looked twice as far as i'm concerned its stock. by the way my spelling is bad i'm a tech not an english teacher
Should I change the Sylicone Hoses and put the stock ones back in. Just for the hell of it. I kept the original ones just in case of anything. And do you think that Theyll fix it for me. I have 33,000k miles on the car and get all my oil changes done at a local Midas. And by the way Thanks a lot for your help........
