problem with my engine

Hi, i need help. i have an 2002 oz lancer automatic. yesterday i felt a little lag in first gear, but after it switched to second i was fine. later that day i switched air filters, i have a short air intake. so after that i took off and then my car started choking as i pushed on the gas, not like it wanted to turn off but more like skipping . it was still drivable. now i wanted to know if maybe it is a spark plug, i have 30000 miles on it, but i changed them 1 month ago. the check engine light went on after it choked, didnt go off. could it be because i changed the filter that the mas has to settle? i dunno what it is, and i dont wanna take it to the dealer cuz then theyre gonna start bull****tin about the mods. all help appreciated.

Any info on mods, recent mods etc would be helpful. Your registry entry seems to be missing what you just described so I'm assuming it's missing more as well.

Could very well be the spark plugs are improperly gapped since they're new.

It can be the spark plug cables too... I ran in a "small" pot hole the other day and lots of water went in my engine bay and water got on my spark plug cables. Spark plugs were new and my motor was running weird. Went to the shop, the guy change my cable and it's still running like new!

So, maybe it's only that. Cost me 20$ to fix... hehe not that bad!
Hope for you it's nothing serious!

Good Luck!

I had that kind of problem two times with my previous car. Two different cause each time.

First time, my MAS sensor was screwed up.

Second time, one of my new spark plug was improperly gaped.

Might be one of these.

Here is one thing you might want to try.

Unplug your negative wire from the battery for a good 15 minutes. That should restart the ecu. It might solve the problem.

When you installed your SRI, did you correctly hooked the MAS. You know that wire coming out from the top?

Unplug the positive terminal, not the negative.

next time please use the thread you already made instead of creating a new one. Merging the two.

I've always done it with the negative, and it always worked
