Clicking Sound before starting...

Searched the forum for the problem, but found nothing.

Had my GTS for 2 weeks now and just noticed on the weekend this ticking sound. Not sure if it was there before, but the only reason I noticed it was because I opened my door and realized a window was open. I turn the ignition to on to close the window and heard 4 rapid succession clicks coming from the engine. Now every time before I start my car, I turn it to the on position and low and behold, the noise is always there. Is this normal? Anyone else?

you got to think, the car has alot of electronics under the hood, i believe it is just something powering up.

Nothing to be worried about. It's a set of relays doing self-check tests before the car starts.

Yeh I posted this question before. I carried my car back to the dealer and they said it was just some solenoids opening for self tests. I read another post that stated it had something to do with the immobilizer and security system in general.

From what I remember, I think it says somewhere in the manual about the clicking noises being from the ABS system doing a self-diagnostic every time the car goes into the "ON" position...

Not a problem at all...

Did you read the thread? Howbout the what, 6 posts of 'it's normal'?

If every vehicle does it, even a different make of vehicle, it musn't be something to lose sleep over.

yes it is fine. it is some sort of selinoid(sp) opening up and doing a check on start up procedures.
