Hahaha.

Just wanted to say that I love the Mitsubishi community on here and the support that everyone gives each other. Nice to know there are people that a person can go to for help or just to talk.

About the headers...I will prolly try to install myself before I go some where else and they charge 100 bucks.

Do you think a catback is needed in addition to the header or does it sound and work well just with the original exhaust?

An exhaust is almost a staple upgrade to any car. Just like an intake. Id look for a nice 2 1/4 in. exhaust for your car. Or better yet, have it custom fabbed. I payed 220 for a 2 1/2in. header back system with cat delete and came with a flowmaster muffler (which ive upgraded to borla). Nicer quality than alot of systems you see out there, and came with a lifetime warranty.

It's hard to find direct-bolt ons for a Mitsubishi Lancer as most exhaust systems are built for the Evo. However I did find one on ebay.

What do you think?

That exhaust is fine. You may have some fitment issues possibly though. Also, lemme be the first to tell you, there are exhausts everywhere for the lancer. Lots of big name companies have jumped on the bandwagon with the lancer as far as exhaust is concerned.

I just put a new o2 sensor before my cat in my car and i thought it would make the P0135 code go away but its still there. Will this be a problem for my inspection next year? Its kinda pissing me off because ive done everything I know to try and get my check engine light to go away but nothing seems to work. I have the cel eliminator and thats working but im still getting the code for my front o2 sensor.

I don't remember what that code is exactly... But you can always clear it drive around a bit and you should be fine... HOWEVER I don't believe there is ANY company that makes smog legal headers for the lancer so if your state requires a visual inspection at smog time you will fail just because you are missing a sticker ... Dumb right?! But that's the way it is unfortunetly....

You can buy a cel eliminator from rrm or make one but this only will help with the light, and not help if your state requires the visual check.

Nah, we don't have visual inspections. My concern is only that the CEL light doesn't give me a problem when I actually get the header in the mail and get it installed. As long as I can get it installed, not get the CEL light, and be able to pass inspection with the exhaust emissions then I will be happy with the install.

Things like emissions make me happy to live in oregon. No worries. But if they were to instigate emissions, my car would be toast.

Ha yeah I have that problem to I just gave up honestly... My cel light just stays on.. Haha cause when there is no cel eliminator it throws the code for no precat but when it haas the eliminator on it throws a code for not enough exhaust coming out... I've descoverd this using a code reader... If you need to keep it off for smog that's no problem but if yo want it off for good well even I haven't got it to stay off. I think that if I modify the cel eliminator a bit so that the o2 sensor sits in just a TAD more i'm talking cm.s ... That may get the code off...I just discovers wh it was throwing the code a couple weeks ago so I've been lazy and haven't got around to messing with it.... lol

Wait maybe I misunderstood ... You have it on your second o2 sensor? Is that the one in the header/manifold?

From what I'm getting he is getting the code on the FIRST O2 Sensor and his second O2 is fine.

To me it sounds like the second O2 sensor has to be just right in the hole to make it happy?!?

yea im getting the code on the first o2 sensor not the second one. Which is weird because they make a cel eliminator for the second o2 sensor not the first. And ive changed the first o2 sensor cause i thought it maybe was bad but its not. It just doesnt make sense how a company like rrm could make a product and not have a solution for the check engine light coming on for their product.

Milonakis, it has to be the 02 sensor. The code your throwing is a 02 heater circuit malfunction. If you twist up the wires or do anything like that, it will destroy the heater circuit. To better understand what im saying in case you dont know, our cars come equipped with four wire 02 sensors. two wires are for the 02 reading, the other two go to an element inside the sensor which preheats the sensor. And btw, a cel eliminator is simply a spark plug extender which can be had at your local auto parts store for maybe 5 bucks tops? If your 02 sensor has been replaced with a brand new one, and you didnt twist the wires on install, and that didnt fix it, there must be a problem with the wiring somewhere. This is not a code caused by the lack of a cat.
