air intake problems

hey guys im new to this forum and i just got this little speed chip thing that im supposed to plug into the air box or something.. idk.. its supposed to work with my stock ecu and trick into thinking its running at a low temperature. and i just wanted to know where the air box was located and if i had to take off anything..? i have a 2003 lancer es.

Dear god do not install that chip, it's a gimmick and will only cause problems.

+1 Let me guess you bought it on EBAY and it said "50+" hp! Probably cost like $20 right? If it sounds to good to be true IT ALWAYS IS!

wow. Hope you didnt pay $$$ for it. Those things are a waste... and if you dont know where the air box is.... Dont be installing anything just yet until you learn a little more about your car. search on the boards. lots of great info.

lol, this was an awesome thread, I loved every second, they are right though bro, don't waste ur time nor money on that nonsense, not good to "trick" ur ecu. It's like being fat, but making ur brain think ur skinny and running a marathon, you WILL pass out and die
