That's exactly the problem I had with the dizzy on my Civic! In the mornings, it would always start; but when it came to leave work after the entire sitting in the sun baking, it would sometimes not start. I'd pull all the plug wires, reconnect. Tap on the dizzy with the end of my trusty screwdriver...and bingo! Startup!

With the "new" reman dizzy, it has yet to not-start on me.

Still think'n it's a coil pack? cuz that's my thought...

yeh i gotta agree with you. I think it is something in the ignition. Probably just old and got toasted by the new battery.

i am gonna check my warranty and see if i am covered for ignition stuff. Hopefully i am, i don't have the money for new coilpacks

more updates. my orig CEL for running lean went away, so upping the fuel pressure must have done good.

Now i have a CEL P102, something with the ignition. So i am taking my car into the dealership on Saturday and getting it done under my warranty. $100 deductible is cheaper than buying new coilpacks and ignition wires

^Well, I guess that's good news! Hope they don't hand you the list of everything they should do on the car...

Good luck! and let us know what was the problem.

the dealership around here actually isn't that bad. They are pretty cool guys actually. They are used to working on modded cars, every time i go. there are modded sti's and evo's around.

Well, I guess I need hook up the ol' scan tool and see what's going on with mine. Mine only happens when the car's hot, too. Since you're only getting lean readings on #2 and #3, could that mean you only have to replace the one coil that fires into those cylinders. I think one works for #2 and #3 and the other works on #1 and #4, I'm too lazy to go look and check myself so forgive me if I'm wrong.

I was wandering, since we're having to replace coils and all... I wonder if those new Okada Projects plasma direct coils that are made for the EVOs will work on our cars. Do we have the same coils as EVOs? Ours are the same as most other Mitsu's, aren't they? If all the coils are the same part number, then that might be something to consider as our (lancers in general) coils start dying.

the orig CEL i got for running lean appeared well before my ignition problems. I upped the fuel pressure and that code has gone, so i will assume i was in fact running lean.

i dunno about the Evo coils, they are pretty expensive though, probably not worth doing on the lancer. if i where you i'd just get the OEM ones.

Oh, that's diffently what I'm going to do. I was just planting the idea seed for someone else to try. I can't really image them doing anything too spectacular, maybe simular to like an MSD box or something like that.

I figure they work better on a boasted car anyway. Everything else does...

ok, bumping this thread.

i removed the orig map that was on my piggy, and uploaded the RRM V1 base map. and the problem seems to have stopped. But i'm pretty sure thats only cos the car is being forced to rev higher when i start the car, and i still have a CEL, so i'm still gonna go to the dealership when i get a chance.

with the new piggy map, my idle was really low and the car stalled out a little, so i adjusted the Idle Screw.

i pretty much turned it as tight as i could without forcing it, and it has raised the idle up to about 700'ish, appose to the 500 and below i had before. So hopefully this will smooth out my idle a bit
