Wiper mark on windshield
Wiper mark on windshield
This isn't really a big deal or anything, but I was wondering if anybody had any tips on how to deal with this. I've had my car for about 6 months now and I've noticed that the driver's side wiper has kinda left a mark where it stops at the end of its motion. It's nothing that's visible during regular weather, but when water or fog gets on the windshield it appears. The mark will stay there for a few seconds when the wipers are going and then just get made again the next time the blade comes up. I thought it might just be some residue either from the blade wearing down or dirt constantly being pushed there, but I gave it a pretty good scrubbing today and that didn't seem to fix it. Anyway, like I said, it's nothing major, but I kinda have a thing about having a clear view out the windshield, especially when there's bad weather, so I'd appreciate any thoughts on how to fix it. Oh, and in case this could be a possible reason behind it, I guess I should say that I put a coat of Rain-X on the windshield way back shortly after I bought the car, and the wipers are still OEM. Thanks guys.
Try the PIAA Silicon wipers...somewhere like the cardomain.com online shop should have them. I haven't had any streaking problems with them at all. They cost a little more than normal wipers but they last a really, really long time and don't streak.
Anybody else think it's just the wipers bein' cheap/worn or something? They do a good job cleaning the windshield without leaving streaks for the most part. If it is the blades though, I don't have a problem replacing them. Some more opinions from anyone else maybe?

if you're talking about what I'm thinking..... like I'll get up in the morning with dew on the window and see the marks the wipers left.... even tho I never use my wipers at all..... it's because the rubber/graphite/silicone is wearing the glass. Only way for it not to get extremely bad is rain-x (or better product like rain shield) once a month, and don't use your wipers.... ever.
