Wiper blade problems?!?!?

Ok... started raining today, the day after I put on some Rain X on the car. Turned on the wipers and the stock blades started rubbing on the windshield like something was pushing down the blades and causing hell! I felt like the blades were going to come off and the metal part of the wiper was going to scratch up the glass. I quickly drove to the near PepBoys and bought new wiper blades and it was fine.

BUT ... once again... it happened, just as I was reaching home. I never had problems with Rain X before and no problems using the wipers until today. Anyone have any ideas on what could be causing this? I just pass the 1000mile mark today, so I'm assuming there was a trigger that caused the problem to make me hate 's quality even more???

I've not looked at our wipers, but ...

First, with Rain-X, I thought the point was NOT to USE the wipers??? It sheets off???

Otherwise, if you're just getting refills you're not replacing the part that the refills are held in place by. If you're getting blades then you're replacing it all. The next place to look would be whereever they're bolted in place or the motor? Both under the hood I'd think...???

Mitsu blades are expensive. They use some ridiculous process to grind the profile on them. Since you have replaced the blades why not clean your windshield as the next logical step. Once you have done that you should be able to get the problem resolved under warranty.

Are you kidding? she has fun in the rain!

But seriously, the rain got heavy so I had to use the wipers. I did replace the whole wiper blade and not just the rubber part. Anyone think it might be some kind of spring pushing it down too much? or whatever? Is there a way to loosen the push or anything like that? Man these little quirks and problems suck! First my pass A-pillar making squeeky noises and now this? really needs to up their QA standards or something. Can't wait till the first oil change.

you need to wipe the hazy glaze off of the rain x. It's causing the rubber on the wiper blades to skid or even get stuck.

That's probably what it was. That happened to me before. No big deal.

will do that. Thanks. Never happened before with my old car or any other car we had. weird. but hopefully the rain cleaned most of the haze off.
