Locking car doors while car is running w/ FAST key option

Now that its getting cold out I like everyone else like to let their car warm up before going out. I have the FAST key option and was wondering if anyone else has been able to leave the car running and then lock the doors and, then of course go back inside for the warmth ;-). I tried and the car would get mad and beep and crap. I have a feeling that this won't work.

If I didn't live in an apartment complex and it was in my own Driveway I wouldn't care and would just leave my doors unlocked.

Yep

Yeah, I think you can leave the car running with the doors locked for like 30 mins. before the car will shut down. I do it all the time, because my job forces me to leave my car for like 15 mins. then come back and i don't want to shut it off and get hot. (Texas) The thing beeps cuz they don't want you to forget to turn it off since your keys are probibly in your pocket and your car is super quiet. So yeah turn her on and leave her, but it should turn off after 30 mins. if I am not mistaken. Hope that helps

I have yet to figure out how to do this without leaving a window down. The FAST key remote "Lock" button will not lock the doors while the car is running; the door handle "LOCK" button will not operate with the engine running; and you can't manually lock the driver's door with the engine running -- it will unlock immediately after locking.

The only things I have not yet tried that might work are: Locking the driver's door with the manual key from the outside or locking the car from the passenger side.

Do you have FAST key Mark? How do you do it?

I start up my car, open the driver door, press the lock button on the door handle and it locks everything...then I just get out shut the door and everything is locked while the car is running.

If I have to I just use the key to lock it or get back into the car.

I have the FAST Key too. This is what i do... it takes alittle to get the routine down.

1. Unlock door by holding handle (unlocking only driver door)
2. Start the engine
3. Use the actual key like the old school way and the doors stay locked
4. Then use the key again to open the door.

It really suck to live in an area with cold weather.

i thought all the fast key cars came with no key hole. mine doesn't have key holes on all doors but black button (to lock doors) on driver and passenger doors.

There should be a normal key hole right next to the black button

If I recall only the drivers door has a key hole on FAST key models. How else would you get in when your key fob battery dies
