Lancer Losing Props
I can understand it's the first year production of this generation lancer, but come on Mitsubishi has dropped the ball service wise IMO...well from my experiences. The car obviously has some common known problems and there's small things their that should be happening to a car that hasn't been out for more than a year.
I was reading how this lancer could purhaps turn the corner for Mitsubishi with it's styling and value compared to other economy cars in it's class perhaps stealing some sales. So I would of expected Mitsubishi to really step up to the plate interms of customer service and satisfaction.

well i let my friend borrow my car for a night. and when he came back he was like DUDE I LOVE YOUR CAR! and i was like what the hell is to like about this car?! lol but apparently its really comfortable.which it is no doubt... so i think its the service we are complaining about not the car.. so from now on im going to complain about the
service dept lol
service dept lol
Perhaps Mitsu needs to really turn that corner first before it can improve other areas of its business. What I'm thinking is that they've been limping along financially for several years now in N. America and maybe haven't been able to afford to deliver the best in service (i.e. specially trained techs, good facilities, etc.). To be able to improve that, they'd need to drum up sales and revenue. Best way to do that is deliver exciting new models and features that really stand out in the market and get people buying from them more often. As sales improve, as I think they have been doing lately, then they can start to expand their enterprises and services. As you grow, you have to start finding ways to keep yourself upwardly mobile or on top. This is all theoretical of course and maybe all wrong (Mitsu may just plain suck on service, period, no matter what), but that's kinda my optimistic outlook I'm holding onto, sorta.
Precisely.
And the dealership has nothing to do with your car losing it's "props."
So lets not go off on a tangent.
Assumptions is ignorance w/o knowledge.
Not being fast enough for you doesn't count as a problem. Driving on the road and getting passed by cars that are faster than you doesn't count as a problem. Not being able to turn the Lancer into an Evolution does not count as a problem. Not having AWD doesn't count as a problem.
Any props the Lancer has to begin with are in your head...they have to be...because it's an econo box! So, if you're disappointed in the car, it's because your mental image of the words "entry level" and "economy car" are skewed and grossly mis proportioned to reality.
With that said: the Lancer is a damn good car for what it is. I paid a shade over $20k for mine and I can honestly say I got what I paid for and more. It's a feature rich, class leading vehicle that's comfortable, looks awesome, gets good mileage, stops on a dime and will keep me and my passengers alive and safe in an accident. Those are "props" the car cannot lose...for no other reason than that is what the car is designed to do.
It's a first year design, so there are problems. It happens. Microsoft has been working on Windows for almost 20 years and it STILL sucks and it's STILL broken
The 2008 Lancer is a fantastic car for what it is. What is it? It's version 1.0 of an entry level sedan.
Could not have said it any better than that.
For me I have had my Lancer for 3 weeks and love it. GTS with the CVT I already have the RRM exhaust, piggy installed... intake and pulley on the way. This car has a good look to it. MPG are ok right now 24 highway... but its a lot of hills.... and will get better with the piggy and once the summer rolls around and I also am still learning how to get the best mpg out of it. It has more hp and tq then my other economy car.. pos Saturn...
and looks a lot better. SS package is a nice addition to the car and am glad I don’t have to install a system in it. As far as mitsu and warranty stuff, I will have to see how that plays out but I never had any other car in for warranty work so I am going to keep my fingers crossed on that one.
My two cents is it is a great car for the price... great looking good power and cant wait for summer to go tooling around with the sunroof down, windows open... stereo up... hear the RRM exhaust and intake, get good power with the pulley and header and have great mpg increase from the piggy....

To those that knocks us who are being negative. I agree with y'all... it's a great car... when it works!
The reason it's losing props for me it's because I never had any problems with the previous cars I've had (both Toyotas) IN THE FIRST MONTH I've had them (one of them was the 2003 Matrix, first year it was in production) . This whole ordeal with my first Mitsu is not leaving a good impression on me at all. I mean it's one thing if I've been driving this car for a few months, but c'mon... I probably racked up more mileage inside a tow truck than driving my own car.
I'm really praying that this is the last time I'll take my car to the dealer for warranty work (at least in the foreseeable future).

I understand where you are comming from. Sometimes you just get a bad apple. I have had many products and things over the years where i have spent more time fixing it or getting it fixed then using it. It is that way with cars too... every model has a few bad apples and especially first year models. So hopefully you got most of the bugs out and can really enjoy the car.
Super true. I don't understand why the car should lose props. It rattles and thunks occasionally. Go test drive a Z06...our car is a sound proof chamber next to that thing....and the vette $50,000 more expensive and a vastly superior car.

damn sounds like you really got a bad apple from there. or as most call it a lemon. really no probs at all here and ive had it since april 2007 and only prob was the recall with the rear door sash. just sorry to hear you got a lemon though man cus outta the three mitsus i had this has been the most reliable car yet that i bought from mitsu
Well, I got the car back today... and it turned that when they replaced the relays last week, they didn't put the modified ones in there.
So, I'm not ready to write mine off as a lemon yet (and unfortunately, Canada does not have any lemon laws).
I really hope and pray that this is the last time I'll ever take it back to the dealer for unforeseen warranty work!

one more thing to my list...loose driver side door hinge. I starting to get sick of all these littles things that keep popping up.
Car is not even 5 months old...Im gonna let them have it at the dealership.

yeah i agree with this. my next car will be something nice like an acura. after an hour drive my engine was ticking like crazy and the car smelled like burnt rubber. it was raining so maybe im thinking it was getting the belt wet or something because ive noticed it a few other times too. not to mention the noises from the front suspention and the brakes and it not starting sometimes and all the interior noises. ive kinda lost hope and am just waiting for something to break so i can get it fixed for free.
dang i wonder if mitsu just had bad workmanship on the canadian cars. cus not much complaints coming from this side of the border. lol. wish you guys werent having so much probs cus you guys sound like i did when i used to own second hand cars awhile ago
