If it only happens when the car is cold, it's normal.

If it won't go into gear let the clutch out a bit and try again.

When it won't go into reverse, put it in first first. Then if it won't go into first, then try any other gears first. I think the cold has alot to do with it...my Civic has been acting this way when 15 degrees outside.

Do Lancers have a clutch pedal adjustment like the Evo? I know I had the same problem but it was all my gears when I got my Exedy Twin Disc. Once I adjusted it the shifts were like butter.

if its cold that is very normal. just let it warm up, otherwise if you've changed the tranny fluid, try adjusting the clutch. worked for me.
