hi, i recently installed some HID Xenon Bulbs on my lancer, I was wondering if anyone else has and if they have problems when the switch on their brights that they actually go dimmer. I switched the bulbs and I'm still having this problem, any help would be appreciated. thanks.

If you put in true HID bulbs, the stock amount of power being fed to the lights simply isn't enough to power them.

I had the same problem....when using brights they were dimmer and more yellow....true not enough juice to power the higher voltage...you'll need to wire in a new fuse i believe. Someone correct me if im wrong

I've seen bolt on HID capacitors that you can mount in the engine bay and feed your HIDs however, since I'm at work...can't really look to in depth in the matter.

If you're running true HIDs you wouldn't need your brights, as for the Hiper, APC, Razo "HID" bulbs, they are setup to only run your low beams, hence the higher voltage. Hope that helps.

Oh and "true HID" come with a mountable 'voltage booster' is what it amounts to really.

True High Intensity Discharge lenses come as a complete package with a capacitor attached; they are complete replacement kits meaning you must remove your OEM lense to install them and cost I think $300/$600 a pair/piece if I'm not mistaken.

The HID lense is also 24VDC I believe and to correct myself it comes with a STEP-UP transformer attached not a capacitor

Ummm, the hi-beams on HID`s can`t use the same bulb. There is probably another bulb attatched on the same housing which is a regualr halogen bulb that doubles for you hi beam. Thats how it is on mine...

And i installed a kit from ebay for $200, and it used stock fuses and didn`t require any extra power... and correct me if i`m wrong but HID`s use less average power than halogens anyways.. maybe right at the beginning its a spike...

Well if it's like normal electrical, then stepping up the voltage means that they work more efficiently, because you can put more wattage through the same size fuse.
