I've had the lancer for about 4 months now, about 2,000 miles and recently i'm finding it very hard to shut off. The fast key knob gets stuck between acc. and off and you have to either take the plastic piece off and put the key in and shut it or push it just right and turn it otherwise it won't turn off.

has anyone had this problem before?

 

If i am not mistaken, i think that is normal for Manual cars. I have to push the key in a little and turn to get the key out.

 

take it to the dealer, might be something off on the stock if it's not turning right unless you push it just right.

 

i have yet to have problems with my fast starter. like others haev said, maybe you gotta push it just right. and if that's the case.. maybe i've just gotten really good at pushing it that perfect bit. hahaha

 

yea i guess i just need to practice my fast key turning technique. ha. i'm taking it to the dealer anyway next Tuesday so I'll report what, if anything, was wrong with the car.

 

I don't know if this has anything to do with what you're experiencing but I know that if the steering column locks then sometimes the knob is hard to turn.

I've only experienced this when trying to turn the car on though. All I've had to do is turn the steering wheel a little to get the key to turn.

 

the first time i drove the car after i bought it i thought it was broken because i parked with the steering wheel crooked and it wouldn't turn on. the steering wheel lock is annoying.

 

so the problem is fixed...apparently there was a rubberband wrapped around the ignition switch preventing me from shutting off the car
