Problem with SS clutch line
Problem with SS clutch line
Hey all. I just recently put on a SS clutch line in my 2003 Oz. I had some problems getting it in. I also have a right up planned, but am awaiting this problem to get fixed. Recently, I noticed that I have lost some clutch pressure on the petal. I had no idea why until I looked near the slave cylinder and found the new line was leaking where the rubber seal is. Too late for my paint as it is already coming off below it. The company offers a warranty on it. Here are some pics.

My questions are
1. Has anyone had a similar problem?
2. Did I install something wrong?
3. Anyone get a warranty claim on it?
4. Did it eat off your paint and could you get a warranty claim on it also?
5. I also adjusted the clutch petal some and made it to where it engages quicker, would that put too much pressure on the line to make it leak?

Thanks, I just got done putting the stock line back on. I hope to get a replacement line. I'll probably cover up the paint with some touch up paint and probably find some kind of insulation to cover the area, make it look somewhat nice. Kind of like sweeping dirt under a rug. Way cheaper than getting a new paintjob on that whole area.

yeah sorry about your paint and the bad line. I mean we installed it, bleeded the clutch and all that. My clutch doesn't feel all wimpy when i scratch in 1st gear. It use too and remember im using a stock clutch on a turbo.
Its quite alright, I can make her look pretty again, just don't know what I'm going to do about getting another line. Hopefully they will replace it. We'll have to wait and see. I hope this shows others that can happen if the line is bad, other than not shifting gears.
But what i can see is it doesn't look the same as mine and the clutch line doesn't looked hooked up all the way, i mean its a pretty tight fit in getting in there and tightening it. You could be missing a part if possible.
What part is missing on my line compaired to yours? Do you have pics? It wasn't all that tight of a fit except for clearenace near the strut area below the master cylinder.

hopefully the eblay people will replace it? they sold you crap once, get your money back and buy from someone who isn't going to sell you crap.
it's always dangerous buying parts like this on ebay. more importantly you get what you pay for. ebay is good for little things like headlights or tail lights... that's about it.
good luck getting it fixed up though!
Thanks to you both. I hope they replace it. I've bought lines off ebay before, and probably from the same people if I remember correctly for my eclipse, and never had problems out of it. It has a warranty for 2 years on it, so I hope to hear back from them this week. I may have just had a bad egg out of the whole carton, which isn't bad. I don't hear about this problem from anyone else. Can't wait to see that pic Doc. Thanks
sorry for the bad pics. my car is turbo so don't get the waterline confused with the clutchline. I think we have the same clutchline and yours might be installed right...i might of just been picturing it wrong. Don't know how long the pics will last.
