Noise from Rear Suspension

I have a 2002 OZ, and my rear suspension is making an nasty squeeking noise. my exhaust is so loud, and I can still hear it over that + with the music on full blast. it has already been in to the dealship 2 times for this, and both in the same week. first time they said they lubed all the joints, becaus they couldn't find anything wrong..well the noise came back 2 days later..so I took it back...then they said it was the rear struts....they said they replaced them, but now the same annoying noise is back 3000 miles later...this is bull ****

anyone else having this Problem??

I want the entire rear suspension replaced...wouldn't you all agree!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had that problem bad in the winter, a squeaking noise that goes with every little bump you hit or motion your car makes. I think when I took everything apart to put in my suspension I lubed every last moving part I could with white grease. The squeak returned in a week, but has never been that bad again. My car has been called the squeaky mouse box. I think all the salt on the roads gets into everything. spraying on lube doesn't help, you must pull out the bolts from all the bushings and cover them in grease like every 3 months. It sucks, but thats the only way I can stop it.

no way in hell am I taking apart my suspension every three months to grease every thing.......if you have to do that, they should ****ing tell you this when you buy the car..."O by the way the suspension in the car you just bought sucks, and you have the re-grease the entire thing every three thousand miles...just like an oil change"......

it's going back to the dealership tomorrw....they better fix it..this will be three times in now....if it comes back angain...number 4...GO LEMON LAW

(Lemon law..."if the same problem happens three or more times, and they can not fix it, it qualifys for a lemon law case)

I don' t know what the hell the problem is..the entire suspension is stock. and you would think that they would take the time to fix the car right, since I work there......well did work there every time it was in for this....just got sick of selling cars.....i'll stick to just driving them, and tuning them

well, just got back from the Dealership...(driving my squeaking Car)....now they are telling me that I need new Lower Control arms, and New Struts again. They didn't have the parts in stock, so I have to take it back tomorow mornng. at least it's being covered under warrenty.

The funny part about today though was, watching FIVE techs stand under my car while one shook it, trying to find out where the noise was coming from.........HOW MANY TECHS DOES IT TAKE TO FIX A LANCER??? 6...LOL

One thought, are you absolutely positive that the noise is in the suspension? It is quite possible that the squeak happens when something else in the car is moved by the bump/whatever is causing the suspension to move. Just a thought, if the new control arms and struts don't help, maybe start looking at other moving or moveable (not held fast) parts of the car. Rear seats, trunk liner, spare tire rubbing the trunk, etc. could possibly be making the noise. Just a thought.

on a side note, my front right suspension seems to be making a noise, but it's not stock, so I'm kinda up sh*t creek without a paddle. It's not too bad, though. And no Rob, I haven't sprayed the entire thing with WD40... yet

No I'm 100% sure it's suspension, I grew up working around cars, an I know the sound of a bad suspension when I hear one.

you should have seen the SIX techs looking at it today...the had the car up on the lift...one shaking the car, and 5 of them standing under it...it wa so ****ing funny...(well it would have been real funny if it wasn't my car), but anyway...they checked everything else, and every thing seems to be right in place......also it's too damb loud to be anything else...at night you can hear me coming like two blocks away, and thats over an Intake and exhaust that my wife says she can hear when I pull into our development...(we live three blocks into the development).........so if that gives you any Idea how loud it is...any way..wish me luck, it goes back in friday morning..they are giving me a loaner car, and keeping it till saturday afternoon......I'll keep everyone posted.

well...picked up the car today..thank got I got to give back the loaner car ( a ford Focus ZX5 )
The squeek noise is gone (for Now), they didn't replace the struts, they said there was nothing wrong with them. There telling me that it was the bushings on the lower control arms. so they replaced the lower control arms and bushings......
hope this is the end of this.

I had the same thing... brought the car in on its 12,000Km check-up and informed them of the squeaking. When I picked the car up, they told me that the bushings had dried out a bit, so they lubed them up and to return if the noise returned. So far so good..

anyone know if someone makes urethane replacement bushings for the stock OZ sway bars? That would be very useful for autocrossing in the stock category.
