Help! Broken bolt on alternator
So I got my RRM UD pulley in the mail yesterday and go to my buddies garage this morning to put it on. We get everything off, get the new pulley on, get all the belts back on, and while tightening down the bolt on the top of the alternator that allows it to move the head of the bolt snaps off, luckily i got the belt tight enough to not come off but it still needs to be tigther. The broken bolt is still there and I need help with getting it off etc. The belt squeels for 5 second when turning on the car and needs to be tighter...

The bolt that i broke is the 4th picture down where it says "After that, your belt should just fall off. Now its on to the Alternator belt. Start by loosening this bolt that is located to the rear of the engine bay with a 12mm socket"

ouch. that sucks man.. dont really have a good suggestion for you eather..
a innovative mechanic unlike myself might be able to help you more.. but u need to replace the bolt'lol DUH'.. (id have to be there to give any sugestions) couple different ways to remove it, and a replacement can be found easy..
jsut don't freak out, it wont help any..

I had an alignment done this morning because I just finished getting my s-techs installed and asked about the bolt and he said that I probably shouldnt use a bolt from Home Depot or Lowes because they wont be strong enough to hold it, said he could order one from my mitsu dealer for me or I could go pick it up there for $15 bucks, the bolt and new fastener/tightener, so thats probably what ill do, he did get the belt a little tigther so it doesnt shreak when it turns on
Are you referring to the little bolt that goes through that small metal block that crosses the adjustment screw and screws in to the alternator up top? If so, eeeewwwww.
I haven't measured how much room there is to work, but the only thing I can think of is to drill a pilot hole CAREFULLY with a right angle drill attachment and use a screw/bolt extractor. Not too hard to do, but DON'T drill any further than the portion that is passing through the little block. Don't drill in to the alternator threaded side because you'll likely hit the threads and mess them up.

You dont even need that bolt.

I used the location he's pointing at with his finger. The squarish thingy is gone since my bolt broke... I totally forgot to snap a picture yesterday... maybe when I go out for lunch I'll try my cell phone camera

Notice the bracket the bolt is going through. That's the bracket that dictates how much pressure you want to apply on the belt. Use a pry bar to apply the wanted pressure, and secure it in place tightning the bolt.
