7,500 Miles, 1st Service

What is recommended?

I know it's in the Owner's Manual, but I'd like to see a discussion of what you guys have experienced and what to expect.

Looking to start on synthetic. How many miles should I expect to get before the next oil change?

7500 miles for a first service way too long!!! You should have changed the oil a lot sooner like 3000 or so.... Synthetic is a preference in my opinion. You pay twice the amount for synthetic but get twice the mileage for oil change intervals.

Really? The Owner's Manual and the Car's computer warning system said 7,500.

7500 miles of regular service (which basically applies to 1% of the population.) Most cars fall under the severe service category. I would follow that from now on. Unless you drive only on the highway, on flat roads, barely pressing the accelerator and if the ambient temp is 50-70 degrees all the time, and no dust.

You should change your oil every 5000k miles. 7500 is way past the limit for my car.

for standard oil 3000 is too soon. 7500 is too late. 5000 is just right haha.

Mitsubishi wants you to change your oil every 5 k miles about. Oil companies and mechanics want you to change your oil every 3000 miles.

you dont have to take your car to mitsu. as long as you can provide evidence that you have maintained the car according to their manual, then they will cover warranties.

I personally change my oil every 7500 using Mobil 1 Syntec. I put a lot of hiway miles on so it doesnt really bother me. I also do all the checks myself. The only one I havn't done is the valve clearance one. Its more work than I want to do, and i am not bringin it to mitsu to do. It's not necessary, but it will keep the engine running smoother.

Checking the valve set is pretty easy, it is when you have to change the valve clearance that becomes a real pain! (removing camshafts and changing tappets!!! uhhg...
